    • 68% of doctors and 72% of lawyers, nationally belong to a fraternity or sorority.
  • Scholarship

The members of Delta Tau Delta hold academics in the highest regard.  Our members understand that they are in college to get good grades and develop life skills that will provide them with better opportunities after graduation.  With that being said our fraternity is consistently above the Greek active member average and all university undergrad average.  The full spring 2009 report for all Iowa State fraternities can be found in the image below.

  • Leadership

Delta Tau Delta is an entirely student-run organization.  This means that our members pay the bills, organize and plan philanthropy events, run meetings, manage other students to build a float for the VEISHEA parade or perform a 20 minute musical for Varieties, etc.  Going Greek creates so many leadership opportunities that will help you develop the skills necessary to get that big-time internship or quality career.  Our fraternity is one of only two fraternities to participate in all four major Greek events (Homecoming, Varieties, Greek Week and VEISHEA), which gives our members that extra opportunity to get involved, develop leadership skills and have a good time while doing so.

Along with opportunities on campus, our national organization holds several leadership development seminars throughout the year.  A full list of these top notch and fun opportunities can be found by clicking here.  If you would like to view pictures from our Karnea or Divisionals trips feel free to click here.

    Brotherhood

Students that join Delta Tau Delta have an immediate connection with 95 other members that are always willing to lend a helping hand.  Although 95 sounds like a daunting number, our members strenghten their friendship with their brothers through all of our involvements and fun brotherhood events. Not only are our new members instantly connected with members at Iowa State, but they also have a connection with over 7,000 undergraduate members and nearly 100,000 Delt alumni across the nation.

  • Social Life

Joining Delts not only means an instant connection with Brothers and Alumni across the nation, but it also means an instant connection with other members of the Greek community.  Whether it be socials with sorority houses, working on lawn display with your homecoming pairing, or dinner exchanges with other fraternities/soroties, our social fraternity offers plenty of opportunities to have fun and meet new people.

  • Philanthropy

Unfortunately, movies like Animal House and American Pie Beta House portray Greek Life in a negative light and completely avoid all of the positive aspects of joining a Greek chapter.  One of the most important opportunities our members have to get involved in are philanthropic events.  There is nothing more satisfying than giving back to the community and those in need.  Our fraternity participates in 5 philanthropy events throughout the year on top of the thousands of dollars raised and hours spent volunteering for Homecoming and Greek Week.  Please click here if you are interested in viewing pictures from our philanthropic events.

Adopt-A-School is one of our National philanthropies that every Delt chapter across the nation participates in.  Every member of our chapter is asked to volunteer at a local elementary school once a semester.  This past Spring our fraternity was awarded with special recognition from our National organization for having fulfilled the Adopt-A-School requirements.  Along with Adopt-A-School, our fraternity also participates in Adopt-A-Highway, and will be participating in Adopt-A-Campus for the first time this fall.

Angel Tree occurs toward the end of every fall semester.  It is sad to say that not every child around the Ames area will receive a present this Christmas, especially with our Nation's economic situation.  By spending a little money and a little time, our members brighten a kid's Christmas by adopting him or her as their angel and purchasing the item on their wish list.

Dance Marathon is the largest philanthropy event at Iowa State, with a large majority of the members that plan and participate in the event being Greek.  This past year 9 of our members were either on the executive team or committe that helped plan the event, while 17 other members participated.  All of the $160,000+ raised by the event goes to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.

Bleed Purple, our other National philanthropy, takes place toward the beginning of every school year.  All of the money raised goes to help college students with cancer pay off their large medical bills so that they can still attend college.  This philanthropy was actually started by brothers of Delta Tau Delta from the Theta Zeta chapter in California that had a fraternity brother get diagnosed with cancer.  Last year Delta Tau Delta decided to make Bleed Purple one of its national philanthropies, and Delt chapters across the nation managed to quickly respond by raising over $60,000.
